Birthday Boy | Indianapolis Family Photographer

Newly turned one-year-old Will got to spend the first hour or so of his birthday morning being a model.  He rocked out a family photo session with mom and dad and then we celebrated with cake...the ultimate reward for a kid!  He may be disappointed during future photo sessions that don't end in cake....so Caitlin and Justin, you may want to keep that in mind (:  Odds are he won't remember this session but the images will live on.

As our families grow over the years, sometimes it's hard to remember what it was like to only have one kid.  I certainly can't imagine it now, having 3 littles running around, but I know it happened.  That first child certainly changes your life, and while you will love future children just the same, there is something about that first one.....they made you a parent, they made you a better, less selfish human being, and they taught you love like none other.  I know this session shows that love........that first child love.  Mama's baby and daddy's little bud.

Beautiful Mess | The Fortin Family | Indianapolis Family Photographer

Sometimes life is chaotic. Sometimes life is messy. Sometimes it's absolutely crazy.  When you have three kids, turn that "sometimes" into always.  I had a lot of sessions this fall - alot of fantastic ones.  Great families, beautiful light, amazing color.....but this one really speaks to me.  This is why I LOVE being a photographer.  This session depicts the emotion and the authenticity I want every session to portray.  Now every session doesn't involve three kids under the age of five...but you know what I mean.

Dan and Lauren would admit this session was crazy.  I usually hate to admit it to parents, but it was.  There were tears,  there were escape attempts, and there was bribery.  But....there were hugs, laughs, kisses, smiles, and real life captured.  I commend Dan and Lauren's patience because they just went with it and it was perfection.

The chaos is beautiful, the messiness is beautiful, the craziness is beautiful.  And that lame saying "it won't be like this forever" is really true.  I hope Lauren and Dan treasure these photos forever because this is life.  This is love.  This is their beautiful mess (straight from Mom's mouth):

Summertime | The Schaick Family | Indianapolis Family Photographer

This family (well a portion of them) had a theme - summer searsuckers - and a beautiful late summer day on the farm for their session.  The kids had a blast exploring the farm and dreaming up that there were kitty cats in the barn.  (yes, kitty cats - because kitty cats bring smiles to little girls).  (:  My favorite image is Grandma and Grandpa with the kids....I love photographing generations together as it's so important to document.  Thanks to the Schaick and Kelly families for choosing me to capture your moments.

Fantastic Family | The Manifold's | Indianapolis Family Photographer

There is SO much I can say about this family but I'll keep it short and to the point - they are amazing.  I first met Aaron and Erin in November 2015 when they were expecting their youngest, Sawyer.  I had the privilege of shooting their maternity and newborn photos that fall/winter.  I loved getting to know them and their two young boys.  You can check out these sessions in my blog archives.  I admire their patience and their sweet love they show for their children that radiates in my photos of them.

This summer we met not once but twice for photos.  (:  They had a mini session in July with just their family and then in August we held an extended family session with Aaron's parents and siblings and fam.  His parents were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary that month - again - amazing!  And oh my did we have a fun time!  I think one of my captions for my photos I posted on FB was that this family was so much fun that I'd like to be invited to Thanksgiving dinner.  Or at least maybe for dessert.

Anyway, back to the session.  My absolute favorite part was the interactions between the grandparents and the grandkids - timeless and priceless.  They are grandparents that genuinely embrace that title and are not afraid to get down and dirty with the kids (as you'll see in the photos below).

New clients are great and new clients are necessary to keep the business open, but those steadfast clients that come back time after time - those are the clients I truly cherish and they really make me love doing this.  The Manifold's are one of those steadfast clients and I'm truly grateful for them.

Daddy's Girl | The Skarbek Family | Zionsville Family Photographer

First, I hope Alyssa (mom) isn't mad at me for my title.  Two month old Addison would NOT take her eyes off of daddy during our session.  She would stare and stare at him, give him some googly eyes, smile at him and so on.  And the affection was not a one way street.  Ian (daddy) was more than smitten with his little girl.  Can we say wrapped around his finger already?

This session instantly became one of my favs.  Downtown Zionsville is so peaceful in the morning.  We met early and the sun was rising, creating a beautiful light, and the happiness of this new family of three was radiating.  I wish I could have a session like this every morning to start my day.  Perfection.

So I know we discussed Addison's affection for daddy above, but she definitely loves her mommy too.  We got some sweet shots of mom and daughter that I hope they will treasure forever.

Thanks so much to the Skarbek's for trusting me with their memories.  Don't blink, because Addison will be running around before you know it.  (:
