Studio Grand Opening Special | Children and Headshots | Indianapolis Photographer

I love shooting outdoors - the light, the greenery, the fall backgrounds, the variety, the wide open spaces. But....I live in Indiana. Although we were blessed with an amazing fall and temperate weather into December (I had an outdoor newborn session in mid-December!), the snow and cold is upon us. I look out my window as I write this and can see the snow blowing - it's pretty but not kind to my camera, my hands, and most importantly my clients. So......that's where my new studio comes in!

I love my studio more than I thought I would and I've been having fun testing it out on my two knuckleheads. See below. (don't worry, my youngest doesn't have a giant foot - he had a cast on his foot at the time). (:

My studio is mainly intended for children, and due to it's size, preferably no more than two (and they have to like each other enough to be photographed close together). (: Studio sessions are intended to be quick and easy to get some high-quality, updated photos of your kids that you can place on the wall. And no lining up and saying "cheese" - creativity and FUN are important parts of my studio sessions. (:

JANUARY SPECIAL: Here's the low-down on my special that is running through January 31, 2016:

* $100 for a 45 minute studio session ($75 off regular price)

*Includes an online gallery of all edited photos

*Digital images with print release for your favorite 15 images

*Option to upgrade for $50 to receive all edited digital images

Book before January 31st to receive the special price. Sessions purchased under the special must be held prior to March 31, 2016.

The Force (and the Baby) Awakens | Sweet Baby Elizabeth | Zionsville Newborn Photographer

It was almost fitting when the Beyer's second child was due on December 18th - the same date as the long-awaited Star Wars movie. Dave (dad) and Ann (mom) are HUGE Star Wars fans and when they contacted me for newborn photos, they even noted that they would love to get some photos of the baby and their 3 year-old son Michael with some Star Wars props. Mission accomplished. Yoda hats and lightsabers made their appearance in the photo session - definitely a first for me! (: But I LOVE incorporating my client's loves and interests into their sessions - totally makes it their own.

Little Elizabeth was born a few days before the big movie premiere and we held her session when she was 7 days old. Big brother Michael was an awesome model for all of the photos - such a trooper! (Bribery helped - thanks to mom and dad for planning ahead). We also incorporated a little Christmas into the session since she was a December baby. (: What better Christmas present than a bundle of sweet baby girl joy?? (:

Two Boys and an Angel | The Manifold Family | Indianapolis Maternity and Newborn Photographer

Not only do I love meeting new clients but I love connecting with clients. The Manifold's were referred to me by my hairdresser Melissa King (thanks Melissa!!). Aaron and Erin were expecting their second boy and wanted some maternity photos done. We met on a sunny Sunday morning in November - Erin was due in about 4 weeks. I instantly loved their laid back nature and the session just seemed to flow wonderfully - something that doesn't always happen when you have a session with a 2 year old. Their son Wesley was a doll - so sweet and smiles all around. (:

I was so excited when they called to tell me baby Sawyer had arrived and they were hoping to have a newborn session. I met them at their home when Sawyer was 5 days old. A December baby can be chaos (I have one of my own) - like having a baby isn't hard enough, add in holiday stress, decorating, presents, and family gatherings and it can make you crazy. I know the Manifold's were taking it all in stride. (:

Once I arrived at their house, I noticed photos of a baby girl all over the living room. And both Aaron and Erin mentioned something in passing about another child. Then I saw the stocking with "Avery" on it. I had to ask - not to pry - but I couldn't not ask - I knew these photos were of a special baby. Aaron graciously answered my question, telling me they lost their first baby - baby girl Avery - at 4 months in a daycare accident. My heart sunk. As a mother, I could not imagine losing a child. Erin shared with me later that they found out 5 weeks after losing Avery that they were pregnant with Wesley - a complete surprise. God is mysterious but God is good. I was inspired by their choice to honor Avery every day of their lives and hold her close in their hearts.

Baby Sawyer was another gift from God and boy, are these parents proud and feel so blessed. Words can't describe this love and emotion so I'll let the photos speak for themselves:

I was able to get some fun shots of Mr. Wesley while baby Sawyer was having some lunch (:

We finished up the session inside (notice all of the outside shots - yeah it was 60 degrees in the middle of December in Indiana - CRAZY!).

A Boy and his Puppy | The Hauser Family | Indianapolis Family Photographer

This was my first family session with an actual pet. The Hauser's brought their golden retriever Daisy to join in the photo fun. Daisy was great for the photos but unfortunately another puppy stole the show. 3 year-old George insisted that his stuffed puppy Pete be part of the family photos and as you can see below, he's in at least 80% of the photos. That's alright though - my sessions are all about capturing that moment in time - and according to mom, Pete is part of the family (and in many other photos throughout George's life). So meet George and Pete:

I met the Hauser's through a mutual friend and I can't thank Jenny (mom) enough as she has already referred me out a couple times. They are well on their way to a free (or deeply discounted) session next year with a few more referrals. (: Contact me to learn about my referral program.

Anyway, Doug (dad) and Jenny have been married for 6 years and little George is the light of their lives. (Don't worry, Daisy, you are a close second). And I can see why - George is such a playful, fun (and don't forget adorable!!) little guy. Seriously, by the end of the session, I was ready to take him home with me and make him my permanent assistant (and that is saying ALOT because I already have two rambunctious boys at home).

Okay - to the session:

Our session was held on a cloudy evening late in October and we were losing light quickly towards the end. Last minute we decided to get the bubbles and the wagon out and I'm so glad we did - some of my favorites from the session:

Sis and Bro | The Trout Kids | Avon Family Photographer

I was excited to take some Christmas card photos for my friends the Trout's. I used to work with Robin (mom) in the accounting department at Brightpoint - actually she had the luxury of working for me - lucky, lucky lady. (: Now she's a big, bad Controller herself - couldn't be more proud. We both have watched each other get engaged, get married and go on to have kids. I'm so grateful to have her as such a great friend even though we haven't worked together in over 5 years. I took photos for her and her husband Craig over the summer - a maternity session and then a newborn session for their son Lincoln. That blog post will be coming up soon. (:

So this session was just focused on getting some good photos of Miss Calli (2.5 years) and Mr. Lincoln (5 months). It was a bit chilly outside but after Calli warmed up a bit (both physically and mentally) we were able to capture some great shots. The sunset light was PERFECT for the closing photos.
